"Mothers wear various hats "

Mother-Daughter Banquet

A total of 119 mothers and daughters attended the second annual mother-daughter banquet of Grace Baptist Church on May 10 with the theme, "Hats Off To Mom".

These ladies wore gorgeous hats and arrived at the fellowship hall of the church which was also nicely decorated with various hats.

The evening began with various poems and songs from the ladies.  The Baiño ladies sang "The Mother/Daughter Song" while the Diaz girls rendered "My Mother's Gentle Love".  Everyone joined in singing the "Mother's Work Song" and "Welcome To the Family" with brother Nikki Diaz and Pastor Manny Ayon, the only males present, playing the accompaniment.  We let them in our banquet since they were there to help!  The young ladies did a skit portraying the many different hats that mothers wear, from a chef, to a nurse, to a detective and a maid.

Ma’am Jill Coltrane, our special speaker, brought a wonderful lesson on Keeping our Lives Focused.  Then all enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared and served by some of the men in our church.

Now that all were full spiritually and physically, it was time to work it off with a game.  Ma’am Christi, assisted by Ma’am Chona and Ma’am Hazel grouped the ladies per table and gave each group a newspaper and a tape for them to design their own unique, prize-winning hats.  After the ten-minute time limit, each group sent to the front their representative donning their handmade hats.  And the prize went to the group of Ma'am Liza Molabola.

Then the much-awaited time came: the awarding of the prizes for the various hat             categories and the winners were:
Most Colorful -  Wendy Diaz Biggest - Joan Lopez
            Funniest - Frenel Fernandez
            Oldest - Chona Basilan
            Classiest - Jill Coltrane
Most Unique - Brinna Faith Leyson

Also the door prizes were given to the lucky ladies and girls.

What a splendid evening it was to remember the wonderful but demanding job of motherhood.  Thank God for mothers, our hats go off to them!

Baby Shower

On August 16, the ladies held a baby shower for expectant mom, Pamela Bandilla, with a good group of ladies bringing gifts for the baby whom everyone             expects to be a  boy.

To start the ball rolling, Ma’am Liza led everyone in a game song recalling boy’s names which put everyone on their toes.

Before the opening of gifts, Ma’am Hazel gave a touching devotion on Living One Day At A Time

Then the ladies played games pertaining to babies: memory contest on what was in the baby bath tub and bingo of baby gifts in store for baby Bandilla.

After a hearty meal and the anticipated opening of gifts, everyone dispersed thankful that the Lord will soon bless the Bandillas with their first child.
